Clinton Brockett bought the property where the Dolgeville United Methodist parsonage is today from Alfred Dolge on May 3, 1893. Clinton died in 1898. On December 21, 1899 the Clinton’s wife Ruth A. Brockett sold the property to Henry Staley and his wife Sarah. Henry and Sarah were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Henry died in 1918. Sarah sold the house to Ermon Sweet March 16, 1920 and on December 1, 1920 Ermon Sweet sold the house for $1.00 to the First Methodist Episcopal Church for use as the parsonage.
