Bishop Asbury's Visit

Bishop Francis Asbury come to visit Brockett's Bridge (today it is called Dolgeville) in 1809. He preached at John Faville's Barn on what is today's Peckville Road near Faville Falls. His sermon inspired the people of Brocketts Bridge to start a Methodism. They first met in peoples homes. In 1811 they built a church on Main Street (where GPO Federal Credit Union is located). It was known as the Methodist Episcopal Church.
